In the courtyard of a temple in Delhi, in India there is a column made of welded iron pieces that have been subject to wear over 4000 years without showing
n o not no sign of oxidation, and which do not contain sulfur or phosphorus.
We have before us, then, a strange alloy. Perhaps the column was erected by a group of engineers who have the resources to build a huge building, but wanted to bequeath to posterity a visible monument to defy time.
The column weighs over six tons, what is curious is that Europe could not have built not one piece of a similar size to the late nineteenth century.
